Kingdom Living in Boldness

Kingdom Living in Boldness   –   450 to 1

How would you feel standing alone against 450 religious leaders who are prophets of Baal?

Elijah was bold and confident in Jehovah God, the God of Israel, the God who is the creator, sustainer and giver of life, the God who revealed HIMSELF through Jesus Christ. Elijah was the only prophet of the Lord left. There were 450 prophets of Baal. Would you be bold against these odds? Would you give in or stand for the truth against these odds? When you know the author of TRUTH, you can be bold.

Then Elijah said to them, “I am the only one of the LORD’s prophets left, but Baal has four hundred and fifty prophets. Get two bulls for us. Let them choose one for themselves, and let them cut it into pieces and put it on the wood but not set fire to it. I will prepare the other bull and put it on the wood but not set fire to it. Then you call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of the LORD. The god who answers by fire—he is God.”
1 King 18:22-24

Elijah was bold and even mocked the prophets of Baal during their attempt to light the fire with their counterfeit empty god. After the 450 false prophets of Baal tried to get their counterfeit god to set fire to their sacrifice and failed miserably, Elijah was so confident in the Lord God that he had the people pour water on his sacrifice to make sure they knew it was the Lord God Almighty who would answer his prayer and light the fire. Here is Elijah’s prayer:

36At the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, Elijah the prophet came near and said, O Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that You are God in Israel and that I am Your servant and that I have done all these things at Your word.

37Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that You, the Lord, are God, and have turned their hearts back [to You].

38Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice and the wood and the stones and the dust, and also licked up the water that was in the trench.

39When all the people saw it, they fell on their faces and they said, The Lord, He is God! The Lord, He is God!
1 King 18:36-39

It was not Elijah’s boldness, confidence or prayer that caused the fire to start. It was the Lord God.  Are you trusting in the god of Baal with 450 others waiting for the fire to start or are you standing alone trusting God?
