Kingdom Living with Work Being Redemptive

What is the difference between a Kingdom Business for profit and a non-profit Church or ministry? The answer is the tax return.

What is the difference between a bus driver called to minister in the workplace and a missionary called to go overseas? There is no difference. We are called to the same “what” – the “ministry of reconciliation.”

Student, fast-food server, office worker, business owner, musician, farmer, writer, flight attendant, reporter, financial advisor, bus driver, stay-at-home mom, stay-at-home dad, attorney, doctor, engineer, accountant, nurse, receptionist, administrative assistant, executive, teacher, actor, carpenter, businessman, whatever – all work is redemptive.

When you received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior through the forgiveness of your sin, you were born again. You received the Holy Spirit into your life. You were washed clean of ALL SIN by the blood of Jesus Christ. You are in the ministry of redemption and reconciliation. Your work is your ministry. You are now a workplace minister.

18 But all things are from God, Who through Jesus Christ reconciled us to Himself [received us into favor, brought us into harmony with Himself] and gave to us the ministry of reconciliation [that by word and deed we might aim to bring others into harmony with Him].

19 It was God [personally present] in Christ, reconciling and restoring the world to favor with Himself, not counting up and holding against [men] their trespasses [but cancelling them], and committing to us the message of reconciliation (of the restoration to favor).

20 So we are Christ’s ambassadors, God making His appeal as it were through us. We [as Christ’s personal representatives] beg you for His sake to lay hold of the divine favor [now offered you] and be reconciled to God. 2 Corinthians 5:18-20

God has given you specific skills, gifts and abilities to use in your workplace ministry. The workplace is a great place to disciple. You are an ambassador in the workplace. As an ambassador you have a special assignment. Part of your assignment is to bring peace to the foreign land. You are the spokesperson in the foreign country representing your homeland. Your mission is to bring the Kingdom of God into the foreign country. You are called to be in the ministry of reconciliation.

Working is redemptive because you are taking power and authority over the curse. You are exercising dominion over the fallen world through productive work. You are bringing the message of reconciliation and restoration in Christ Jesus through work. “I like working” is speaking blessing over your work.
