Kingdom Living with a Blessed Life
How do you live a blessed life?
1 BLESSED (HAPPY, fortunate, prosperous, and enviable) is the man who walks and lives not in the counsel of the ungodly [following their advice, their plans and purposes], nor stands [submissive and inactive] in the path where sinners walk, nor sits down [to relax and rest] where the scornful [and the mockers] gather.
2 But his delight and desire are in the law of the Lord, and on His law (the precepts, the instructions, the teachings of God) he habitually meditates (ponders and studies) by day and by night.
3 And he shall be like a tree firmly planted [and tended] by the streams of water, ready to bring forth its fruit in its season; its leaf also shall not fade or wither; and everything he does shall prosper [and come to maturity]. Psalm 1:1-3
In Psalm 1 we find the three ways to live the blessed life. The first way is to not follow the ways of the world. The downward progression starts with listening to ungodly people, following their advice, plans, and purpose, and then walking in the path of the ungodly. That ultimately leads to becoming a scoffer and a mocker of God.
The second way to the blessed life is delighting in and desiring the word of God more than food or anything else. The blessed person meditates on the word of God day and night and it becomes his food of life. The word of God feeds the blessed person’s mind, will and emotions through the power of the Holy Spirit. The word of God is spirit and life. When the Word of God becomes Spirit, you have entered into the Holy Place.
Finally the blessed person is productive and fruitful like a tree planted by the water. The Spiritual water of the Spirit of God in you produces fruit which lasts. This fruit does not spoil, decay or wither. This blessed person prospers in everything he does because of the living water, the Holy Spirit, providing power and strength in the blessed person’s life.
