Kingdom Living is Victory Over Self
Kingdom Living is Victory Over Self
Your greatest victory will be when you are able to manage your soul. Which is your mind, will and emotions.
Your greatest victory is when you submit to the Holy Spirit and resist the flesh, selfish desires, emotions and feelings.
David was able to rule his emotions and selfish desires when he had the opportunity to kill King Saul in the cave who had 3,000 men chasing David to kill him. David cut a portion of Saul’s robe to show that he could have killed him. Instead of killing Saul, David remained under the authority of God who anointed Saul King. David ruled his spirit by not taking revenge on his enemy.
He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that rules his spirit than he that takes a city. Proverbs 16:32
The scripture is telling us that a person who controls his anger is greater than a mighty warrior or the toughest combat soldier who conquers a city by fighting and force. Ruling your own spirit is a bigger win than taking a city by fighting and force.
Proverbs 25:28 Like a city whose walls are broken down is a man who lacks self-control.
Ecclesiastes 7:8 The end of a matter is better than its beginning, and patience is better than pride.
Proverbs 14:29 A patient man has great understanding, but a quick-tempered man displays folly.
James 1:19 My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.
Your greatest victory will come when the power of the Holy Spirit fills you with love and a sound mind.
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is — his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:1-2
