Kingdom Living is Speaking to the ROCK
“Take the staff, and you and your brother Aaron gather the assembly together. Speak to that rock before their eyes and it will pour out its water. You will bring water out of the rock for the community so they and their livestock can drink.” Numbers 20:8 NIV
Then he and Aaron summoned the people to come and gather at the rock. “Listen, you rebels!” he shouted. “Must we bring you water from this rock?” Numbers 20:10 NLT
And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he struck the rock twice. Numbers 20:11NIV
Are you speaking to the ROCK or hitting the ROCK?
The life-giving power is in the ROCK.
Life and death are in the power of your speech. Moses was angry at the rebellious people so he shouted condemnation at the rebellious, whining, complaining people he loved.
Are you speaking to the ROCK / Jesus Christ so as to release the life-giving water (Spirit of God) which flows like a river into the barren and dry land of your spouse, children, family, business, coworkers, Church, community and nation?
Are you speaking condemnation to the people and then hitting the rock (Jesus Christ) because you see the ROCK as immovable, not able to listen or hear you, lacking compassion and understanding?
God told Moses to speak to the rock (Jesus Christ) yet he spoke / shouted at the rebellious people. The ROCK (Jesus Christ) is the answer which brings life-giving water. HE wants you to speak to HIM, not to condemn the people. HE is the ONE who will release the water out of the ROCK to restore, redeem and reconcile the dry hard soil of the heart.
Because Moses focused on the complaining people rather than the ROCK and disobeyed God, Moses did not enter the Promised Land. God told him to speak to the ROCK; instead he spoke to the people and hit the ROCK.
When you direct your speaking to the ROCK, then from the ROCK you will deliver to the people the life-giving refreshing water of God’s Word in which lives, families, business and communities will drink.
