Why did Jesus come?
He came to abolish death and revive life.
Look at this, life and immortality – and this is in 2 Timothy 1:10.
This is Paul speaking – Our savior Jesus Christ who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel.
This is what Paul was preaching. The old humanity will have made sin to death.
Sin entered the world through the one man and death through him.
Jesus came to break the power of death and bring eternal Zoe life to life.
The new humanity, Christ righteousness, resurrection life will be a new through one man’s righteousness.
Life and justification came through all men. Just as the first man Adam became a living soul, the last Adam became a life-giving spirit. For as in Adam, so in Christ all shall be made alive.
That is why Paul calls Jesus the last Adam.
Jesus didn’t come to improve the old creation. He came to begin a new humanity, a very new creation of life.
And so what Jesus accomplished is this, He conquered death.
Death has no more dominion over us. He broke the power and the chains of sin. Sin no longer has final word.
He rose in Victory. The grave could no longer hold Him. He gives us his Spirit.
The same Spirit that that raised Jesus from the dead lives inside of us.
He brings life abundantly. We have eternal life – eternal Zoe life now and forever – forever and ever now.
He reveals life and immortality. We are heirs of immortality, incorruptible life now.
Death is defeated. Life has come to light. Life is come to life. The light bulb’s on.
In Christ, we’re new creation, alive forever.
If anyone If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature.
Old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new.
Amen and Amen.
